Environmental Science - Climate Change

Combined with existing pressures on the coastal and marine environment, the threat of global warming can adversely impact the natural environment through rising sea levels, erosion, flooding, extreme storms, salinization and habitat destruction.  Similar problems appear on land, as shifting weather patterns cause drought, deforestation and even desertification. The Climate Change programme integrates research from the Institute’s other Environmental Science projects, supporting research conduced by partner institutions whilst informing global environmental policy.
