Capacity Building

The Scholar Ship Research Institute organises international capacity building workshops aimed at enhancing opportunities for emerging leaders in developing and less developing countries. Held aboard The Scholar Ship during each academic voyage, these seminars provided young natural and social scientists with training in areas including research methodologies, information technology, and business development. The object is to empower students to lead meaningful change in their home countries while fostering informal pathways for regional collaboration between academics and professionals. Whenever possible, the capacity building workshops also emphasize skills and subject areas linked to realizing the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals.
