About The Scholar Ship
The Scholar Ship is a university campus at sea. Backed by quality universities, it offers a range of recognized academic programs aboard a transformed passenger ship. Its voyages take it around the whole world, offering its students a uniquely international experience. Participants from different countries and cultural backgrounds live and learn together, developing their intercultural competence and making friendships that reach every corner of the world.
The Scholar Ship programs are of two sorts:
Academic programs. The Scholar Ship provides a range of exciting university programs, taught in English, which can be taken for credit as part of a shore-based university degree or diploma. If you are interested in these programs, please visit www.The Scholar Ship.com.
English language programs. These are described in this website.
The Scholar Ship programs provide students with an extraordinary opportunity to integrate education and travel unlike anything else available. As they travel from country to country during the 4 to 15-week programs, students live and learn in a dynamic multicultural environment aboard the ship. When in port (average visit is seven days), students participate in field trips, community service, shore excursions and independent travel.
To succeed in this increasingly interdependent world, you need more than linguistic abilities. You need the intercultural knowledge and understanding that comes from experiences among many cultures. This is what The Scholar Ship can offer you.
About The London School of English
The London School of English is the world’s oldest officially accredited English language school, founded in 1912. LSE offers programs in General English, which include examination courses and preparation in Academic English for study at universities in the UK and elsewhere, and also programs for business and other professionals. Professional courses include English programs for executives and managers, young professionals, lawyers, bankers and a range of other specialized occupations. LSE has a number of branches around the world and generally attracts serious students with high expectations who want real results, fast.
About the Teachers
Quality learning is the result of the experience of the school, and the skills, energy and dynamism of the teachers. This is particularly true in a closed environment, where staff and students spend extensive time together. The London School of English has chosen the staff for its collaboration with The Scholar Ship with the greatest care, to ensure that they offer students the ideal combination of qualifications, experience, dynamism and commitment. That means we can guarantee the maximum progress and also the maximum fun and involvement in this truly unique learning experience.
Consortium of Academic Stewards
A consortium of leading, world-class universities contribute to The Scholar Ship’s programming, oversee the quality of its academic offerings, and ensure that it adheres to the most rigorous academic standards. Called Academic Stewards, their role is also to monitor and promote standards of performance in teaching, learning, administration, and student support. Academic programs offered on The Scholar Ship meet the same quality standards as those found on the campuses of the Consortium’s member institutions, although the Consortium of Academic Stewards is not directly involved in the development of the English language program.
