Undergraduate Studies

The undergraduate studies program of The Scholar Ship is designed to deepen students’ understanding of the world in which they live and to teach them how to effectively develop relationships in the culturally diverse world that it is.

The program consists of two core subjects taken by all students and an array of subjects offered within The Scholar Ship’s five undergraduate learning circles. Students may also select one subject from a group of General Studies offerings. Specific subjects offered onboard The Scholar Ship are drawn from the curricula of member institutions of our Consortium of Academic Stewards.

The Undergraduate Curriculum

Undergraduate students select a learning circle in which they pursue their studies throughout the semester-long voyage.

Every undergraduate enrolls in four subjects (classes):

Global Issues
Intercultural Communication

PLUS:

Elective Subjects

Two elective subjects, one chosen from a student's own learning circle, and one other from any learning circle or from the General Studies offerings.
