The Scholar Ship is fully committed to the development of an academic curriculum that conforms to the highest global standards. The Scholar Ship affirms this commitment through the establishment of a global Consortium of Academic Stewards comprised of high-standing institutions of higher education from around the world. Member institutions have been selected for their own commitment to quality as well as for their dedication to the academic vision of The Scholar Ship.
The primary role of the Consortium of Academic Stewards is to oversee the creation and delivery of a high-quality curriculum that adheres to the established learning outcomes of the program. On behalf of the Consortium, Macquarie University has been designated to award academic credit and issue academic transcripts to students who successfully complete The Scholar Ship program. Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, has a long and successful history of hosting students from around the world. Coursework delivered by Macquarie University is recognized by universities throughout the world, thus facilitating the transfer of credit to students’ home universities. Students are strongly encouraged to consult an appropriate university administrator on their home campus to confirm that credits from Macquarie University may be counted towards their degree or graduation. The Scholar Ship staff are always available for consultation and to provide additional information to students’ home institutions.
An official transcript of all studies completed during The Scholar Ship program is issued by Macquarie University. Each subject is worth a specified number of credit points in the Macquarie University system. Most subjects (called units) at Macquarie are valued at either 3 or 4 credit points, which is equal to 12 to 16 hours of study per subject per week, including class attendance, private study, library research, etc. The actual workload can vary from subject to subject. Undergraduate students may enroll in a maximum of 14 credit points. Postgraduates may enroll in a maximum of 16 credit points.
Twelve Macquarie credit points are equivalent to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer Scheme). The average 3 credit-point subject aboard The Scholar Ship is equivalent to 7.5 ECTS; a 4 credit-point subject is worth 10 ECTS.
